Bringing together global best practice in investor stewardship

Bringing together global best practice in investor stewardship

Stewardship professionals, asset owners, asset managers and expert advisors from around the world will convene in London this month for the International Corporate Governance Network’s (ICGN) 2024 Global Stewardship Forum (GSF), taking place on 26-27 September 2024. Led by investors responsible for assets under management of around US$77 trillion, ICGN advances the highest standards of corporate governance and investor stewardship worldwide.

Addressing the key challenges for responsible investors, the GSF agenda will cover all aspects of best practice in investor stewardship, from assessing the credibility of companies’ climate commitments, to effective engagement on capital allocation decisions.

ICGN’s CEO Jen Sisson said:

“Best practises in stewardship are important because good stewardship is a critical part of the investment process and contributes to the effective functioning of corporate governance.

As two major Stewardship Codes (in the UK and Japan) are about to be revised, this is a great opportunity to bring together some of the world’s leading experts in the space and think about how we can make stewardship more effective, on the basis that everyone shares the goal of companies generating sustainable, long-term returns to fund wealth creation and pensions.”

ICGN sees a range of challenges for stewardship in an environment that has become quite adversarial, making effective engagement more difficult. We are keen to encourage more, and more open, dialogue between investors and companies.

We’re delighted to be presenting the ICGN Global Stewardship Disclosure Awards on 26 September, recognising and celebrating investors whose disclosures provide genuine insight and transparency, providing a model for other investors. Awards are presented in four categories, for asset owners and asset managers with below £60 billion in assets under management, and over £60 billion.

ICGN would like to thank our sponsors and partners for their support and full details of the GSF agenda are available.
