Marianne Harper Gow

Marianne joined Baillie Gifford in 2004 and has been integral to the firm’s evolving ESG resource and its integration across investment, operations, and client departments. It came to encompass research and analysis, stewardship responsibilities, client reporting, as well as engagement with institutional investors, regulators, and industry bodies worldwide.

Now based in Singapore, Marianne continues to focus on corporate governance and sustainability matters. She combines an international outlook with her growing appreciation of the cultural and regulatory nuances that shape governance and sustainability across Asia.

Before joining Baillie Gifford, Marianne worked in environmental and geological survey roles within the offshore oil and gas sector. She holds a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science from the University of Aberdeen and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh. Marianne also serves as a member of the ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland) Ethics Board.
